Unfortunately, even though there are regulations to prevent this, dogfighting is still a major problem in this country.
Dogfighting owners keep dozens, often hundreds, of canines in appalling conditions. Dogs - usually bulls - are chained outside and never receive proper medical care.
In a dogfighting ring, they are forced to fight each other vigorously, with the obedient canines being brutally assaulted and beaten. Most of the time, those wounded dogs are left to perish after being judged unfit to fight.
The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International are, fortunately, working diligently to save as many of these miserable puppies as possible while cooperating with law enforcement to hold their owners accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
Olivia is one of the dogs rescued from a horrific life in a dogfight. She was involved in a dogfighting ring in South Carolina with 274 other dogs.
She had fought at least two fights before recovering, as evidenced by her injuries, according to rescue workers.
Before them they found her terribly malnourished, chained to a tree outside, and without food or water.
She suffered severe physical and emotional damage, but rescuers made it their goal to restore her to health.
Olivia relearns how to believe in others after experiencing love and compassion for the first time. Rescuers are optimistic that despite her slow but steady recovery, she will be back to full strength soon.
You must watch her massive transformation which is already beginning! You will never realize from the way the terrible life you left behind is currently appearing.
